“The girl was gazing into the sea; the father was yelling, selling fish. The girl kept gazing into the sea; the father kept yelling, selling fish.”

We are observing the phenomenon happening amongst families in Taiwan, exploring the relationship between the family environment and social expectations, the excessive intrusion and influence of long term life plans. The beginning of the video portrays the back of the girl looking into the Sea, then, shows the girl laying down, dancing onto the sand. But then, it slowly vanishes and becomes a fish struggling onto a fish stall. The father yelling, selling fish stands facing backwards as his image fades, becoming the girl once again… This video resembles an endless cycle, just like the vicious circle stirring under Taiwan’s society today. And the fish vendor’s yelling, selling, after undergoing edition, is like a lament of the fish dying on the beachside.
